The Commander of the Third Military Region, Major General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabah, received on Saturday a delegation from the office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, headed by the military advisor to the UN envoy, Mr. Anthony Hayward, at the headquarters of the region's command in Marib Governorate.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the military developments and the impact of the ongoing escalation by the Houthi terrorist militia, backed by Iran, on various fronts, and its effect on the UN's efforts to bring peace to Yemen. Major General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabah reviewed previous attempts to stop the fighting with the militia, pointing out their repeated violations of ceasefires and agreements, which demonstrate their lack of seriousness in achieving peace.

Major General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabah confirmed that the Houthi militia engages in clear distortions in their commitments, as they have not adhered to any of the previous agreements or covenants in their attempts to destroy peace initiatives and end the war. He also stressed that the Yemeni Armed Forces are fully prepared and ready to repel any Houthi attempts on any combat front.

In this regard, Major General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabah stated: "We are for peace, and we extend our hands for peace in accordance with the directives of the political and military leadership, and at the same time, we are ready for confrontation and resolution if this militia continues its military escalation and unwillingness to achieve peace."

He pointed out that the Yemeni Armed Forces, in all their formations under the Ministry of Defense, are fighting for peace, while the Houthi militia fights for destruction and looting. He noted that the militia is currently using attacks in the Red Sea and the Gaza issue to gain popular support, but has failed to achieve its goals due to the awareness of the public about its deceptive intentions.

Major General Mansour bin Abdullah Thawabah emphasized the need to reassess the international community's and the UN's position toward the Houthi militia, as it has become a direct threat to regional and international security and peace. He also highlighted its negative impact on maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, as well as its threat to global trade routes and the disruption of shipping traffic in the region's most important maritime strait.
